In this guest blog post, Revel’s Chief Strategy Officer Chris Lybeer spotlights Revel’s history and current momentum in the enterprise point of sale (POS) space. In case you missed his last blog post, Chris showcases how technology can help offset the current labor demands still impacting the restaurant industry.
Summer may be winding down, but Revel’s growth isn’t. In recent months, we’ve welcomed dozens of new mid-market and enterprise clients to our portfolio, and I don’t see that momentum slowing down anytime soon. Most of all, we’re thankful and very proud that they trust us with their business. Let me introduce you to just a few of the newest members of the family, and read on to hear my take on the Revel difference in the POS space.
Popular midwest franchise Pizza Ranch has made a name for itself amongst pizza lovers, and their growth has been impressive to watch. Revel Enterprise® is rolling out to their 225 locations (and counting!) and includes Revel Delivery XT™ for in-house delivery operations.
This is an especially great story because Pizza Ranch is a totally hybrid brand. They offer table service, walk up service, window drive up service, curbside, and delivery. Wow! With the move to Revel they’ve already significantly lowered their total cost of ownership, improved the customer experience with a fully integrated order fulfillment process, and gained flexibility for the future. This is without a doubt a brand to watch.
East coast-based chain Friendly's Restaurants also selected Revel Enterprise® for implementation at more than 140 of its locations. If you haven’t had the chance to dine at a Friendly’s location, you’re missing out. They offer a true, classic diner experience with meals that feel like home, on top of their famous ice cream offerings.
Friendly’s has been in business for over 80 years, and has chosen Revel as part of a company-wide initiative to drive innovation and improve operational efficiencies. I’m happy to report that we’ll also support the launch of Friendly's Cafe, a fast-casual concept that serves up the beloved Friendly's menu items via a fast-casual service model that lets guests order and pay at their own pace. This is the future of fast-casual, and Friendly’s hasn’t missed a beat.
I get asked all of the time what makes Revel different. The fact that we’re native to the cloud—and still leading the cloud-native pack!—makes Revel so incredibly simple to scale alongside any business. To me, that’s a major contributor to the Revel difference, and enterprise brands still bearing the weight of fractured legacy operations are noticing.
Below I’ve listed just three (of many) core differentiators that have brands like Pizza Ranch and Friendly’s, as well as other multi-location operators, thinking of Revel when it comes to upgrading their POS technology.
I talk about this one all the time, but it’s because it matters to so many of our clients. Revel’s open API allows clients to onboard integrations that make their operations run smoother, and help them be more strategic. They can pick from one of our many Revel Integrated Partners, or customize an integration of their own.
Friendly’s, for example, will integrate third-party solutions for loyalty, back office support and online ordering management, and I know our truly open API was a big differentiator for them.
Customers are demanding convenience and ordering options more than ever. We can blame the acceleration of these demands on the pandemic, but the truth of the matter is, customer expectations were evolving on their own. And technology adoption is at the root of that evolution. Consider all of the different digital channels and ordering experiences we are supporting with just these two brands alone.
Revel SmartPay™ helps restaurateurs provide customers with a convenient option to pay via a contactless, mobile payments solution. It also lets guests pay their bills from their smartphones, either by scanning a QR code or by following a link sent through SMS. That speeds up table turning, increases tips, and reduces demand on your team’s time.
And as I mentioned in my last blog post, we built on Revel SmartPay and added Revel SmartOrder™, a solution that empowers customers to not only pay at the table, but to also place their orders from their smartphones at the table.
At Friendly’s, they’ll utilize new pick up options and mobile tableside ordering from Revel to improve speed of service, increase labor efficiencies and drive revenues.
At Pizza Ranch, all orders will be routed to the Revel kitchen display system (KDS), creating a fully integrated order fulfillment process. The result is an improved customer experience, with orders that are completed quickly and accurately.
In general, I think enterprises are realizing the power of a connected kitchen. With POS and kitchen monitor integrations, order ready boards, and a robust ticketing system, Revel’s kitchen management capabilities are some of the best in the business. Best of all, they are native to Revel’s platform—no need for another expensive vendor.
There’s plenty more momentum where this came from, and I want to give a shout out to our team here at Revel. As we head into the fourth quarter of the year, I am energized by the strong team behind our clients. Here’s to helping even more restaurants and retailers win with Revel.
