5 Ways To Use Your POS Receipts

For most businesses, the biggest marketing goal is to sustain and grow a steady customer base by increasing brand awareness. That means getting the customer to do something routinely – to eat at your restaurant, buy your product, or share your news far and wide. Businesses can spend so much time and money on advertising, but they often overlook the value that receipt marketing can bring for a fraction of a penny per receipt.

For an affordable way to promote your business, look no further than your point of sale receipt paper roll! In addition to your logo, website, and other general business information, there is a lot that you can add to your receipts to increase sales and encourage repeat business. Here are just a few suggestions:

Consider using color. Memory retention studies show that people are naturally drawn to color. When color is combined with the printed word, there is greater recall, recognition, and retention. Different colors can even evoke different feelings in customers. Help your message stand out from the competition by using color on the front or back of your receipt paper rolls.

Add coupon offers. People are always looking for ways to save money. Adding a coupon to your receipts is an easy way to help your customers cut costs, while also encouraging them to buy something that they may not have otherwise tried. Be sure to make your coupon specific, with a clear timeframe or expiration date, and other restrictions.

Promote special events. Try adding a line about upcoming events, holiday promotions, and clearance sales to the bottom of your receipts. Not only will you increase brand and product awareness, but you can also clear out any excess inventory and previous season stock with the added foot traffic. You can even go one step further by including an event coupon code that can be redeemed for added savings.

Include a survey. You can easily drive more traffic to your website by adding customer surveys to your receipts. It also shows that you value your customers’ opinions and can help you gain valuable feedback about your business. You can offer perks or discounts in exchange for participating in your survey – a win-win for everyone!

Capture more emails. Get your message out to more customers by directing them to register for your e-newsletter, special promotion, or sale notifications online. This will drive more traffic to your website and also build your database for future email marketing campaigns. Try offering a discount or coupon for completing the sign-up process as an incentive.

Most importantly, don't be afraid to experiment with your receipt marketing. Sometimes it takes a little trial and error to find out what works best for your business. The key is to engage your customers and let them know that you value them. Whether a customer is buying groceries at the supermarket, getting a coffee at the local coffee bar, or paying for gas, one thing is for sure – they will likely walk away with a receipt, and that is a great opportunity to keep your brand’s name in the forefront of their mind.
