Tell me a little about your background.
NS: Before Revel, I was in school working multiple jobs from being a barback, bellman and working at Starbucks. I have experience in numerous customer-facing, retail, hospitality type jobs and enjoy speaking with clients. I like working with others and being able to converse with a diverse amount of people.
CH: I have always been in a customer facing or team working environment. Immediately after college, I played professional water polo in Greece followed by being a server in Santa Cruz. I was also a flight attendant for a year and a half before deciding I wanted to find something more grounded.
What drew you to Recruiting?
NS: My dad actually had a career in Recruiting and we have very similar personalities. He found the opportunity very rewarding and I wanted to be in a role that I found enjoyable day in and day out. Knowing that and the fact that I enjoy speaking with clients, I decided to enter Recruiting. What rewards me the most is being able to connect an opportunity to the right person and, in result, provide personal growth for the new hire as well as growth for the Company. Revel has truly allowed me to grow and develop my profession as a Recruiter. I very much enjoy what I do and see myself in Recruiting long-term.
CH: I always enjoyed interacting with customers in fast paced environments so knew I wanted a career that incorporated both. Nate actually found me and reached out. I was very interested and it led me to build a career in Recruiting. I enjoy helping others find what they are looking for career wise and being able to see a resume and connect it to the right position. Even if a position is not currently offered, I save every resume for potential future fits. Its about connecting people to opportunities that align with what they are looking for at the right moment.
What is your day-to-day like at Revel?
NS: I typically start off my day with a cup of coffee. I then follow up with candidates and schedule initial phone screen interviews. I also work on sourcing candidates, managing second round interviews with hiring managers, bringing candidates onsite to meet the Revel team and finding ways to refine the interview process to provide candidates the best experience.
CH: I usually start my mornings off with a cup of tea and having conversations with fellow Revelers in the office kitchen. I then dive into my email inbox. As the Sourcer for the entire recruiting team (currently a team of 4; we are hiring for additional sourcers and recruiters at the moment), I spend my days finding and reading through inbound resumes. I also reach out to qualified candidates, schedule for the other recruiters and conduct reference checks and pre-screen interviews.
How would you explain Revel’s culture and job opportunities at the moment?
NS: I get the culture question a lot on the phone with candidates. At the end of the day, it’s not about the perks, but the values here at Revel: Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, Results-Oriented and Customer Centric.
CH: Job opportunities are growing quickly and aggressively here at Revel. Stateside, Revel has offices in San Francisco, St. Petersburg and recently Phoenix. Internationally, we have established presences in Lithuania, Sydney and just entered into the European market by expanding to Northern Ireland. If you are passionate about what you do and able to prove success, there are opportunities for you here at Revel. We are currently looking for Client Success Managers throughout major metropolitan areas including Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Atlanta.
What do you look for the most in a quality candidate?
NS: I definitely look for candidates who align with the job description skill sets. I also look for candidates who drive energy into conversations and have a genuine interest in growing and learning within their profession.
CH: I also like to make sure a candidate’s skill set fits with the job description. After that, I look for energetic, driven candidates who are passionate to be a part of Revel Systems and are humble team players.
What is something you’d like the world to know about Recruiting?
NS: From an internal standpoint, I believe anyone can do the job. It really is about finding the right person that can do the job. It can take a while, but in the end we are looking for someone who can be a part of the team in the long-term, not the short-term.
CH: If you are a people person, then a career in Recruiting is a very rewarding job. As an in-house recruiter, I love being able to be a part of the on-boarding process from beginning to end - from the start of the process sifting through hundreds of resumes to welcoming the new hire into the office on their first day.
