Putting your CDS (Customer Display System) to Work

We have a special treat for you; this week we are bringing you not just one Tech Tip, but rather two Tech Tips! We received feedback indicating that more retail and restaurant-focused tips might be helpful, so we figured why not do both this week, and from here on out?

Our first tip is about the CDS, or Customer Display System. These displays (iPad minis) can be kitchen display units, customer display units, or the POS stations themselves. Not only are they great additions to your POS for displaying an itemized list for the customer of the current order or allowing them to sign for a purchase, they are also excellent ways to advertise right in your store or restaurant. These displays can be used during times of idle or inactivity for branding or advertisements. And did we mention the increase in the amount of tips you and your staff will receive when the customer is prompted to enter a tip amount?

For instance, we had a previous tech tip about loyalty programs, and how to set them up. If you just created a new loyalty program and want to get the message out to your customers, the CDS is one of the easiest ways to do it. You can create a picture slideshow or a static image advertising your new loyalty program, and have it displayed on the CDS. This is great additional advertisement for your business, with little to no effort required from you as the owner.

This feature can easily be set up from the Management Console, with pictures effortlessly uploaded right from the computer. You can set the animation intervals, and how many images are in the slideshow. You'll be amazed at how simple it really is, and your customers will be impressed with your new advertising displays.
