FSTEC 2015 was a hit! From gadget showcases to demos and speaker sessions, everyone from the foodservice industry benefitted from the major event. For those who couldn’t attend FSTEC 2015 in Washington D.C., have no fear because we have all the key takeaways and highlights here.

Revel Systems, the leading iPad Point of Sale, was at FSTEC 2015 with its own booth and activities. The event only validated that Revel has the right type of offering for what the foodservice industry is seeking right now. Many attendees came to Revel’s booth to learn more about how Revel’s award-winning solution could benefit their business, from multi-location management tools to full customization capabilities. With Revel’s major partnership with Intuit, recent big round of funding, and announcement with Apple, Revel Systems was a hot topic at FSTEC 2015. Some attendees even came to FSTEC solely to see Revel’s Point of Sale in action. Revel’s booth offered demos on Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), Table Service Restaurant (TSR), Kitchen Display System (KDS), and Enterprise Management System (EMS) features. Everything from centralized menu controls to tableside mobile order takers was showcased for key decision makers in the restaurant industry. Discussions were flooding our booth around how Revel’s innovative cloud-based solution can help take businesses to the next level.

Chris Ciabarra, CTO and co-founder of Revel Systems, also got a full house during his Enterprise & Information Security keynote. With over 30% of victims of network intrusions yearly being merchant Point of Sale systems, Ciabarra shared how to fully protect businesses from any attack. He covered Apple iOS and how running on an iPad Point of Sale is already more secure with strict code signing requirements and built-in virus and malware protection. Big topics he went over included Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) and how PCI compliant Point of Sale hardware and software is key to saving business owners time and money. Also, he covered the importance of EMV compliance. Businesses who are not EMV compliant risk being liable for credit card fraud and chargebacks. Revel Systems has top of line security, including both PCI and EMV compliance. Bulletproof your business and get 1 year of EMV compliance for free from Revel Systems here.

One major hot topic at FSTEC this year was around open API. Open API was the clear winner when asked what was the number one request from Point of Sale vendors. Businesses want the flexibility of using best of breed apps to run their foodservice establishments. Revel Systems is ahead of the game with open API and gives customers the freedom to integrate with their favorite third party applications. Another hot topic at FSTEC 2015 was around legacy hardware and the fast adoption to a lighter technology footprint, from iPad Point of Sale systems to the ability to order from a mobile app. There is a strong push towards adopting advanced iPad Point of Sale systems over legacy systems because it is the future of Point of Sale.

Stay ahead of the competition with an all-in-one solution that is built to cater every business need and want.
